H3 is an applied research platform for students and researchers at Georgia Tech Research Institute and the Georgia Institute of Technology. H3 works to create games and challenges that give students a hands-on experience in the realm of cyber security, primarily through “hacking”. An understanding of the threats faced is necessary in order to build secure systems. In other words, we can’t defend against what we don’t know.
Additionally the H3 program educates our community in the specifics of hacking such as vulnerability analysis and exploitation. Practically every communication device used on a daily basis from mobile phones, to banking systems (ATMs), to the largest most widely encompassing social networking channels in history can be compromised instantly if we fail to properly train our future hackers.
